Some students may not be able to assume certain shooting positions (i.e., standing shooting positions etc.) because of physical limitations or disabilities. The presence of a physical disability does not affect a student’s eligibility to attend the course or receive a completion certificate. We are able to adapt the exercises to work within each student’s range of ability.
NO!!! For safety reasons no ammunition or outside firearms are ever permitted in the classroom. In the classroom training environment where handling of firearms may take place for training purposes, it is imperative that no loaded firearms be present. If ammunition is not in the room, it cannnot possibly get into a firearm! This policy protects everyone, keeping us all safe.
Live ammunition may only be present on the range during live-fire exercises.
This is the policy of the NRA and High Desert Firearm Training and is strictly enforced.
Leave your firearms and ammunition secured in your locked vehicle until directed by an instructor to get them.
Follow the law when transporting your firearm(s).
Pursuant to California Penal Code section 25610, a United States citizen over 18 years of age who is not prohibited from firearm possession, and who resides or is temporarily in California, may transport by motor vehicle any handgun provided it is unloaded and locked in the vehicle’s trunk or in a locked container. Furthermore, the handgun must be carried directly to or from any motor vehicle for any lawful purpose and, while being carried must be contained within a locked container.
Pursuant to California Penal Code section 16850, the term “locked container” means a secure container that is fully enclosed and locked by a padlock, keylock, combination lock, or similar locking device. This includes the trunk of a motor vehicle, but does not include the utility or glove compartment.
Let me break that down, you could be arrested and charged for NOT transporting your firearm(s) according to the law! Unless it is a CCW firearm listed on your permit and you are carrying it concealed, all other Firearm(s) must be transported UNLOADED and IN A LOCKED CONTAINER. That means your container will be locked. IT DOES NOT mean you have a cable lock through your action.
When you pack your firearms for transport to the course, be aware of which direction your muzzle is pointed in your case or range bag. We suggest marking your case or range bag with a marker or piece of tape so you know which way your firearm is pointed when you arrive at the range. This insures when you are uncasing your firearm(s) they will be in a safe direction.
